Scout Executive, Greater Niagara Frontier Council
Buffalo, New York – July 2012 to Present
The Greater Niagara Frontier Council serves the youth of Erie and western Niagara Counties. We have a talented team of nineteen dedicated staff that work together to support just under 10,000 youth and adults involved in Scouting in Western New York.
Our focus has been on increasing quality Scouting with an emphasis on growing the Cub Scout program. The effort has been led by new unit development with twelve new packs in 2018, second highest in the region. Through partnerships with community organizations and predominantly African-American Churches, we were able to increase our Cub Scouting by 55% in the City of Buffalo. We ended 2018 with growth in Cub Scouting membership of 250 youth, just over half of the growth was from girls in family scouting packs. We also had growth in total membership.
We have also had a strong focus on fiscal sustainability with a long-term goal of increasing unrestricted net assets to twenty-five percent of our annual expenses. The unrestricted net assets have increased from $67,094 in 2011 to $344,864 at the end of 2018.
